Multicultural Learning Fellowship

 

The Center for Multicultural Education (CME) invites applications for a number of Multicultural Learning Fellowships to support undergraduate student research or community organizing and service. We encourage students and faculty mentors who are interested in the intersections of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, etc. to apply for funding up to $1,000. 

This is a rolling due-date, so please disregard the date posted in the brochure.

CME Faculty Fellowship Program

 

In Fall 2017, the Center for Multicultural Education launched the CME Faculty Fellowship Program, supported by the Engaged Learning Transformation Fund. 

The fellowship cohort consists of these proud members:

Dr. Sara Collas, Lecturer of Ethnic Studies

Dr. Carolyn Field, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice

Dr. Sayeeda Mamoon, Professor of French

Dr. Ernise Williams, Assistant Professor of Nursing

Facilitated by Dr. Huining Ouyang, Professor of English, 2017 Fellows engage in pedagogical inquiries in teaching race and ethnicity and their intersections with other salient social identities.

Transracial Adoptee Panel

Transracial adoption is a topic that has been debated for many years, especially as it pertains to white parents raising children of color. 

Hear the important and unique perspectives of three transracial adoptees: Johanna Heineman-Pieper, Felicia Carlson and Andrea Clark-Johnson. 

This event is free and open to the community. Each panelist will share information about their individual history and experiences growing up as a transracial adoptee. We will also discuss strategies that their white parents did that were helpful in their racial identity development as well as circumstances that hindered their racial identity development. This event will focus on the experiences and truths of the panelists. 

There will be time for Q&A and reflections.
